As a meditative game, Starsong calms players with its beautiful lighting, partial glitch aesthetic, and unique, piano soundscape that plays notes according to players' movement.
It encourages players to slow down their thoughts, and simply enjoy the music and visuals as they navigate islands in space, collecting stars and watching as they slowly re-populate the sky.
People don't just play Starsong: they dream, and awake well-rested.

Starsong was originally made in winter 2024 for a class called ARTGAMES in very little time. It's a meditative, almost nostalgic experience involving an invisible grid of notes, where each area a player explores utilizes a different musical scale.
Players navigate that space to collect stars, both increasing the latent beauty of the space (by adding stars of those colors to the sky), and also progressing the game: after collecting all the stars on an island, a bed will descend from the sky for players to fall asleep in and move to the next island. These stars are what give players a reason to explore and experience that grid of notes.
Eventually when it is properly finished, the game will include a constellation-drawing feature during the "sleeping" period in bed, when the camera faces towards the now-starry sky. The constellations would remain in the night sky and play chords to underscore the music of player movement.
It has recently been updated for optimization, more intuitive island shapes & star placements, and an improved kill-plane teleport function.
